Creating an Industrial Edge in a Home

How To / May 25,2013

Industrial style can offer the perfect alternative to rustic or 'cabin-style' decor. As well as being edgy and contemporary, industrial style incorporates both masculine and feminine aspects and can often be achieved on a limited budget. One of the best things about industrial style is that different elements can look amazing when mixed and matched. For example, glass and stone, brass and brick and metal and wood can each be used to complement the other and achieve incredible effects. In particular, worn, faded and even dented metal can look most striking and interesting when used in industrial design.

Very often, the more that decor is worn and 'imperfect', the more effective it looks. Another attractive feature of industrial design is that minimalism and clean lines feature strongly. A multitude of knick-knacks have no real place in such a home; instead a 'less is more' approach should be applied. An industrial edge can quickly, easily and often affordably be added to a home's interior.
